At the age of 65, Laura Lynch, one of the original members of The Dixie Chicks, lost her life in a head-on collision in El Paso, Texas, according to authorities on Saturday. The tragic incident took place on Friday at approximately 5:45 p.m. local time as Lynch was heading eastbound on U.S. 62. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the fatal crash happened when another vehicle, traveling in the opposite direction, attempted to overtake a car on a two-way undivided section of the highway.

Born on November 18, 1958, Laura Lynch is an American country musician and songwriter, recognized as the eldest, original, and founding member of the all-female country music group, the Dixie Chicks.
